youtu.be Links are coming!

Ok, I thought this was fake when I first heard about it last week. BUT it looks to be true.  Youtube now has a URL shortener!  Pretty cool! Makes it easier to tweet about of course!  Enjoy!

To use youtu.be manually, simply take a URL like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdeioVndUhs and replace the”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=” with “http://youtu.be/” to get: http://youtu.be/FdeioVndUhs Plug that shorter URL into a browser, and you'll see it redirects to that video.

Browser Size by Google Labs

This is my favorite new tool from Google which just came out early Dec. 2009. – BROWSER SIZE – This page allows you to see which parts of your site are able to be seen by the smallest of browsers. I personally always design no WIDER than 1000px with a possible stretchy width beyond that. But this is a neat tool because it gives you insights into the DEPTH and where your headline goes or your call to action on the page. I just redesigned my whole header of my site after realizing things were too low.

Facebook Top Search Term 2009

Are you or your business on Facebook yet? If not, you SHOULD be!  Because EVERYONE is now heading to Facebook!

Experian Hitwise has just released two significant data of 2009 – top-search term and top-visited site with Facebook and Google earning the top spot respectively. Facebook beats dislodged last years top-searched term – MySpace. While Google obviously retained its last year’s position.

Mark unread from here in GMail

I have already enabled this. It is really cool when there is a really long thread in your email and you get about half way down and then the phone rings… happens to me all of the time!  With this, I can mark that I have read to this point so I can open it later and start where I left off!  LOVE IT!

There’s a new feature in Gmail Labs that will help with this. When you enable Mark Unread From Here from the Labs tab under Settings, you'll see a new “Mark unread from here” option in the drop down menu found in the upper right-hand corner of messages.
