I have helped a LOT of clients to bring their site back from the dead after they had changed their website wholesale to a new type of site. WHY? Because GOOGLE can’t find the site’s pages any more! The results in the Google index are mismatched with their actual pages! HENCE, the NEED for 301 REDIRECTS which work EVERY TIME they are employed!
