Ok most fan pages suck… Don’t just believe me, see the below graphic… takes a lot of work to make them work… well maybe that isn’t quite right… it takes CONSISTENCY to make it work PERIOD. BUT is it REALLY worth it with such a low Return on Investment? Sure, but you have to take the LONG view and that is by doing this and amassing thousands of fans over the next few years that it will then make a big difference…. just make sure you are doing OTHER SEO work and not just Facebook…

Ummm DUH. I probably have a 4 to 1 ratio of girls to guys as friends in Facebook. This trend is obvious and has been trending this way for some time.

Globally, women demonstrate higher levels of engagement with social networking sites than men. Although women account for 47.9 percent of total unique visitors to the social networking category, they consume 57 percent of pages and account for nearly 57 percent of total minutes spent on these sites. Women spend significantly more time on social networking sites than men, with women averaging 5.5 hours per month compared to men’s 4 hours, demonstrating the strong engagement that women across the globe share with social sites.

Here is the latest on Facebook privacy concerns and the steps to turn this off…

To opt out of Facebook’s new profile sharing is a multiple step process:

STEP 1: Go to the “Privacy Settings.” Go to “Applications and Web Sites.” Then go to “Instant Personalization Pilot Program,” and hit edit settings.

STEP 2: For all users there’s an automatic check in the box below, which allows Facebook to share your information with other web sites. You are automatically “opted in.” If you do not wish to share this information, uncheck the box.

STEP 3: Even after you’ve done this, it is not clear whether you need to “opt out” at the sites where Facebook is intending to share your information, like Pandora and Yelp, and soon many more sites. So you will want to look at the upper left hand corner of those sites to see whether those sites are recognizing your Facebook account and activity. Here again, you need to opt out.

But a word of caution, as Facebook concedes, your information may still be shared through your friends accounts, unless you block the application from these web sites.

Continuing on its path to take over the internet… Facebook will be launching its very own browser bar very soon folks! As I do NOT trust the SECURITY of Facebook, I will NOT trust using this thing! My vote?! PASS on THIS! MUCH LATER, perhaps, when Facebook has fixed all of their security issues, will I trust using Facebook to share EVERYTHING about my browsing experience.

Details on Facebook’s toolbar are still scant, but we hear that it will rest at the bottom of the browser window using AJAXy technology, the way Meebo’s Bar does (and the way the chat bar previously integrated into Facebook.com did before it). We can expect the Facebook bar to include sharing features and chat, just like the Meebo Bar. It’s unclear if Facebook will be launching its bar with advertising but we can almost certainly expect it to come eventually.

Here is another reason why I dislike Facebook and their backwards opt-in policies… they are now sharing your Facebook cookie (if you are logged in or not, and perhaps your username info), and don’t worry cause everyone is now AUTOMAGICALLY opted IN to this feature… UGH… Facebook needs to think folks… this is going to get messy later on and perhaps lead to further lawsuits!
