The real story is that Yahoo has simply had a steady slide downwards. And Bing has barely increased. Plus, AT WHAT COST for Microsoft? Lots of $$$ spent with their online division and so far, they are in the red since Bing started… So basically this is really a story of Google continuing it’s dominance with a 65% market share since like forever… A non story really… Oh well guess it was a slow news day

Some posts are now showing up in the SERPS. They are not ‘ranking like crazy’ yet and they are far from perfect and it is not every post, but they are there. Should we start optimizing?

I agree with this article… Google Plus could more easily target Linked In than Facebook… Facebook really has to STUMBLE in some major epic fail sort of way… but I am really not seeing that happen, are you?

The single biggest problem that Google may be up against right now is that they’re fighting a battle from behind. While I anticipate very solid growth early on, once users realize that many of their friends haven’t moved over, rather than have to access yet another social media resource to communicate, they’ll slowly move back to just the one. The one where all their friends and contacts already are, where they can communicate in one location: Facebook.

So what DOES SEO stand for anyway? 5 years ago I’d EASILY tell you it stands for Search Engine Optimization… but not any more… SEO NOW stands for internet marketing strategist as there is just WAY MORE going on now than 5 years ago. Google Search is constantly adding (and subtracting) new stuff, Facebook is now uber-important, and Google Plus is on the way. That record high for Bing is 14.4 percent of market share – fairly impressive when you consider how young Bing is overall and that they only breached the 10 percent mark over the last year. This 14.4 percent market share combines with Yahoo’s 15.9 percent (about the same as Yahoo has held historically over the last couple years) to hit over 30 percent of the total market – up from about 20 percent last year and 25 percent at the end of 2010.

The newspapers’ content has been removed not only from Google News (as desired) but the entire Google index. Now the newspapers are crying foul, saying that Google is “retaliating” against them for their legal victory.

Here are the latest search engine Market Share numbers.

comScore
Google held steady at 65.5 percent (up from 65.4 percent in April).
Yahoo held steady at 15.9 percent for the second straight month.
Bing grew to 14.4 percent (up from 14.1 percent in May)
Ask held steady at 2.9 percent.
AOL fell to 1.4 percent (down from 1.5 percent).

Google Makes Big Changes to Product Search Feeds

Google has been clear that they will start taking actions against those who violate the terms, and specifically that, “Starting on September 22, 2011 we will be taking action against accounts with feeds targeting the United States, France, United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany that do not comply with the new specification and policy requirements.” But what does “taking action” mean?

Feeds will be pulled. More specifically, “products will be suspended from Google Product Search until the issues have been addressed. In case of repeated violations of our quality standards, your products will be suspended for at least one week after the second violation, and for at least one month after the third violation.”

Scared that your feed may accidentally violate the new rules? Luckily, a new segment of the Google Merchant Center allows you to check Google’s current evaluation of your feed and site to see if there are any problems.
