The real story is that Yahoo has simply had a steady slide downwards. And Bing has barely increased. Plus, AT WHAT COST for Microsoft? Lots of $$$ spent with their online division and so far, they are in the red since Bing started… So basically this is really a story of Google continuing it’s dominance with a 65% market share since like forever… A non story really… Oh well guess it was a slow news day

That record high for Bing is 14.4 percent of market share – fairly impressive when you consider how young Bing is overall and that they only breached the 10 percent mark over the last year. This 14.4 percent market share combines with Yahoo’s 15.9 percent (about the same as Yahoo has held historically over the last couple years) to hit over 30 percent of the total market – up from about 20 percent last year and 25 percent at the end of 2010.

Here are the latest search engine Market Share numbers.

comScore
Google held steady at 65.5 percent (up from 65.4 percent in April).
Yahoo held steady at 15.9 percent for the second straight month.
Bing grew to 14.4 percent (up from 14.1 percent in May)
Ask held steady at 2.9 percent.
AOL fell to 1.4 percent (down from 1.5 percent).

Ditch Google, Bing for Unfiltered Search with DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo doesn’t customize results to its users, so you’ll get a more diverse array of content types and perspectives, allowing you to altruistically see the myriad points of view offered by the web – or at least that’s the line DDG is going with.

This is great news as the big dogs of search are filtering more and more and more. Overall, this is especially worrisome to me and reminds me of "GROUP THINK"… if everyone thinks something is a good idea and gives it a plus 1 in Google then it will rise in the rankings… I don’t recall wanting to get everybody ELSE’s opinion on search results… search is NOT the FAMILY FEUD for Pete’s sake! I want to get a scientific search untarnished by public opinion / emotions. I am starting to think that with Plus 1 and Facebook influencing search that Google’s rise is at its apex and will now start down the path of ancient Rome… DuckDuckGo: Ditch Google, Bing for Unfiltered Search – Search Engine Watch #SEW.

I’ve made the switch finally. No longer use Google Apps fo eMail as I have previously discussed. Instead, I am using Apple’s Mobile Me and forwarding email from my webhost to my me.com account. And I have switched out Google as my primary search tool and gone to DuckDuckGo.com See below!

Here is the latest data for the search engine market share. Should be interesting to see what will happen with bing-yahoo over the next few months and if Microsoft will continue to pour money into TV ads if their market share does not increase much more… time will tell…

Bing Gains 1% Market Share in July, Google’s Share Goes Down

Considering how much money Microsoft is spending on their Bing advertising campaign… this is not a lot gained for their effort methinks…

According to Statcounter, Bing managed to increase its share of the U.S. search market to 9.41% in July from June’s 8.23%. The combined search market share of Bing and Yahoo is at 20.36% from 19.27% in June.

Google’s U.S. search market share slightly went down to 77.54% in July from 78.48% in June.
